“It is not just a name for me, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” says Prime Minister Modi in response to the collapse of the Sindhudurg statue

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed regret to Palghar, Maharashtra, voters on August 26th, about the fall of a 35-foot-tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji in Sindhudurg. He underlined that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a divinity to him and his companions, not just a name.

Modi additionally stated, “Today, I bow my head before my revered Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and ask for forgiveness.” Nine months after Prime Minister Modi presented the statue of the Hindu warrior king on August 26, it crumbled. The project was overseen by the Indian Navy.

He recounted his visit to the Raigad Fort subsequent to his announcement in 2013 as the prime ministerial candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to the Prime Minister, “When the BJP chose me as its prime ministerial candidate in 2013, the first thing I did was visit Raigad Fort and prayed at the samadhi of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, just like a devotee prays to their god.”

Prime Minister Modi also made fun of the opposition party on this occasion by bringing up Veer Savarkar.

“Our values are different,” Modi said, alluding to the Congress’s jab at the independence warrior, referring to him as a “maafiveer” (one who apologizes). We are not the sort of people who still denigrate Veer Savarkar, treat him with contempt, and stomp out patriotism. They are prepared to fight it out in court, rather than provide an apology, even after so much has transpired.”

He asked people to vote knowing what kind of people disrespect a great son of the soil and what their principles are. Modi also expressed regret to everyone who views the Hindu warrior monarch as a god.

According to Modi, “I bow my head before all those who consider Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj a deity and apologize for the pain caused by this incident.” He stressed that, in their eyes, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the greatest of all time.
